September 11th always is a tough day for me as I remember that terrible day 10 years ago.  But it is also a wonderful day because it reminds me how grateful I am to live in a country where valiant men and women risk so much.    I am so grateful for all those who serve our country and even more, I am grateful for the families who give so much to allow them to do so. Families are the most precious possession that we have and I love that my passion allows me to be able to preserve family memories forever.  So, in remembrance of September 11th I would love to offer a day of mini sessions for families who serve our country on October 1st.  Firefighters, Police, and members of the Armed Forces will all receive a huge discount on family pictures and the minimum print order amount will be waived!  The 5 morning sessions will be held at an industrial building for an urban look, and the 5 afternoon/evening sessions will be held in a beautiful park.  Book your session early to get the location and time you would like!

My Eyes Were Opened…

I have some confessions.  My life at the moment is so imbalanced, busy and all over the place.  I work tirelessly on My Beauty Campaign daily while still running my own photography business, while I am also a wife and mother to my 2 sweet children.   Ironically, I got started with my photography business because I wanted to get better photos of my children, and I hardly ever shoot my children anymore!  If I do, I just grab the point and shoot and get a quick snapshot.  I have been so inspired by fellow photographer Aria Bethards and her constant beautiful, natural posts of her children in their everyday environment.  And I just recently was so touched by a post from Suzanne Plant who posted her story and a video that I cried the whole way through.  After watching this video, I was so moved and I knew the next day would not be the same.

I cleared my entire day, and put all work aside.  I spent the entire day with my children.  Now, I do this everyday…but I really spent the day with my kids.  I spent every minute they were awake giving them my complete attention, and I always had my camera in my hand.    I ignored my to do list and all the work that was calling me on the computer.  I spent all day shooting them in their natural environment, in their everyday clothes (many times which they took off) with the messed up hair and snotty noses they have every day.  And I loved it!  There was no posing, no hair fixing, not fancy props or backdrops…just my kids.  This was one of the best days I have ever had with my children, because all of me was with them.  The crazy thing is this day, I got more done than I normally do when I try to work as much as I can throughout the day.  I felt better, the kids were happier, and when I did sit down to work when they were asleep, I was much more productive.  We will cherish these photos forever because they truly show who my children were on June 21st, 2011.

So I challenge you to do the same.  Spend a Real day with your family.  While you are together take as many pictures as you can.  You can do it yourself, or hire a professional…but document an everyday DAY.  If you are accept the challenge, be sure to comment on this post, or tag yourself on the post on my facebook page.  Be sure to post your slideshow on Nuttall Photography’s facebook page!

This panorama just does not do justice for what is stands for and means – it has so much crammed into it!   Here you see women finally blessed with pregnancy, some who have unfortunately lost many children, one suffering from cancer, some married and some not, many who have or have had low self esteem, some victims of abuse, one has 16 children, and many starting new and exciting chapters in their life…but they now all have one thing in common. They all can now confidently and honestly say, “I am Beautiful.”

To be absolutely uplifted and inspired, spend some time reading their stories and experiences through their journey.  Click the link below!

Can you believe that I shot all 20 of these woman in one day?  It was incredible and I couldn’t have done it without the help of my fabulous assistants and sponsors!  Seasons Salon and Day Spa generously did everyone’s hair, while the fabulous Laa did all their make up and didn’t sit down the entire day!  My fabulous assistants Heather Killingsworth kept the day rolling as always, Corbie Kortz drove all the way from Colorado to help out with the event, and Kelly Hall who read my mind all day and did what it wanted!  A special thanks to my business parnter Nate McClellen who helped out along with wonderful Justin for filming.

I feel so honored that I have been able to photograph this family 5 times!  I have been able to watch this family grow from Maternity, newborn, Wedding, 1 year old, and now family pictures with their 2 year old.  I just love these guys!  They had such adorable outfits and I found this awesome location that fit them to a T! Seriously one of my favorite families!  Thanks you 3, and happy Birthday Izzy!

I am Beautiful Because:

I assist people in feeling comfortable with themselves by putting them at ease when talking to me.
My laugh and smile are contagious!
I don’t judge people, and allow them to be themselves, just like I allow myself to do!
I know I don’t have to look like a supermodel to be loved and admired!
I revel in my own self-love and talents.

Are you ready for Tammy?  Meet the mother of 7 children who completely inspires me!  I would loose my marbles if I had 7 kids and I’m pretty sure she has WAY more marbles than I do and I only have 2 kids!  Tammy is such a beautiful woman and creates beauty wherever she goes.  Check out her many talents on her blog.  http://www.merryweathermama.blogspot.com I have no idea where she gets the time to do all those wonderful things, but she does!  Tammy is such a kind sweet and loving woman, and everyone who knows her is blessed.  Thanks for being my inspiration Tammy, and you were incredible to shoot!

Here is what Tammy had to say about her session:

Well guess what? All you women out there who think you don’t really ‘need’ a Beauty Session? You’re going to want to reconsider! I tend to keep to the less front and center side of things, and really don’t seek out events that put me in the spotlight, but let me tell you–It felt AMAZING to just put all the requirements of those around me on hold for a bit and pay attention to ME for a change! I shopped, I manicured, I pampered, and I felt I totally deserved it!! The photo session itself was a riot! Mandi has a gift for helping a girl find her true self and then capturing it beautifully in an everlasting image. As the de facto photographer in our family, I am so happy to have some truly BEAUTIFUL reminders of who I am. And now my family will have a reminder as well. Mom might not get all gussied up on a daily basis, but look! That’s ME!

I am Beautiful because:
I love being a mother.  My children make me happy.
My husband loves me and tells me constantly.
I have made positive thinking a big priority.
I feel like I have a place and a purpose – like I have value.
Positive attitude and being happy = Beauty.

20 Incredibly Lucky Women

It is time for a plethora of Beauty Sessions!  I am finally shooting again after a MUCH needed break while I expanded My Beauty Campaign.  The campaign has grown to 5 different countries, and more and more photographers are joining the campaign daily.  It has been so rewarding to watch and I feel honored to be a part of this incredible work.  Many fun updates coming soon on the campaign.

But wait!  This post is about beautiful Kristen!  My favorite part about beauty sessions is the importance of catching true personality and what makes these women tick.  I really feel I was able to do that with Kristin.  She is a ball of energy and so sweet and loving.  Her laugh is infectious and just puts you in a good mood!  Seriously, this is a beautiful woman in every way.

Here is what Kristen had to say about her experience:

Having finished my MBC experience, I want to start at the end–my photos!  It was like an out of body experience, to sit and look at my photos.  Some of them I could see my age, a few of them I looked like someone else, but there were some that amazed me, some that I just loved.  It was like a happy Christmas morning to see pictures that express how I feel about life and how I feel like I look inside.  After I saw pictures that I loved, I began to look at the other pictures with more curiosity.  I’m older than I used to be, but I’m interesting in different ways.  I felt kind of intrigued by the new me–I haven’t looked this closely at myself in a long time.  I am a lot richer, wiser person that “me at twenty-five”.  I’ve learned a lot.  I’ve seen a lot. I appreciate a lot more.  That is a marvelous feeling.  Thinking about how far I have come and who I am becoming made me truly feel beautiful.

PS.  I want to highly recommend doing this with friends you really love.  It was a blast to share shooting, smiling, and smirking with people who know and appreciate the real me–and vice versa.  Perfect!

I am Beautiful because:
I do beautiful things.
Everyday I give something of myself to someone who needs me.
I celebrate my strengths and forgive my weaknesses.
I can share in the joys and sorrows of others.
