I’m really starting to love off camera flash!  It opens up so many possibilities!  But, I couldn’t help it…I had to turn the flash off for a few because I am still in LOVE with natural light photography.  I was able to mess around with some amazing photographers in Salt Lake last night and learn some more tips and tricks to this whole new world of photography.  It still boggles my mind that I can shoot literally ANY time of the day with these techniques.  I have not got my fancy lights yet, so I just used my 580 EX II speedlight with the good old gary fong and the flex and mini pocket wizards and the little guys did okay!  I want to introduce absolutely beautiful 12 year old Kelli.  She is the sweetest little fireball and the first time I saw her, I wanted to photograph those beautiful eyes so bad!  She rocked it along with the absolutely stunning Juliet.  She can’t take a bad picture if she tried!

Oh boy.  Yup.  I had a great Thursday!  Even though I got sunburnt, was exhausted from shooting for over 9 hours, got eaten alive by bugs it was an amazing day!  Ali Holn was in town from Minnesota and put on an amazing workshop.  I have been a natural light kind of girl for so long, and I knew it was time for me to branch out a bit.  I’m in love with this style of photography.  I love the colors, the eyes, and the shadows that come from using lights.  So, I would definitely recommend her workshop to any photographer in the future, but I don’t know when she will be back in town.  I loved shooting these beautiful people too!  Let me know what you think!

Mary Taylor: WOW Mandi! Really wishing I hadn't been busy and could have gone to this workshop - that is, if I could have gotten as amazing photos as you did!!! SO COOL!!!

jacqui: Wow Mandi you are my hero, I love your work .What I want to know is when you will be hosting your own workshop? I so want to come along

So, we were supposed to get together tonight with many photographers in Salt Lake but there was a CRAZY wind/rain storm!!!  We were going to meet up with 2 more beautiful models (Teisha and Gwen), but we never made it down to Salt Lake with this nasty weather. Regan and Julie were all ready to go, so we decided to shoot a few right by my house (since they looked so HOT!) Such beautiful girls!

Erin Fonnesbeck: Mandi, these are SENSATIONAL! That 2nd black and white is especially amazing.

Lots and Lots and Lots of pictures coming up!  I couldn’t decide!  The crazy thing is, there are soo many more I didn’t even post!  These girls worked it!  The best part about this session, was there isn’t any sort of special occasion, but these cousins just wanted some pictures together just because they love eachother.  Thats it!  I love it.  I have so many new favorite photos from this session.  Thanks guys!

I got so excited when Nina asked me to take her acting head shots!  Nina is a student at BYU studying to be an amazing actress.  So, I’ll be so proud when she stars in the next Oscar winning film, and I’ll  be able to say, “I took her head shots!”  You’re beautiful!
